items usually have a set price in ectos...
its like in real life. even if the currency loses value, most of the stuff still has the same price |

and because the ectos raise is caused by both speculation and inflation

Probably because most people with lots of ecto's can only count up to 8, math simply boggles there wasted braincells. When their parents say I'm off to work they prolly wonder what build they're running!

This doesn't fully make sense for such things as ambraces as they have an ecto value (which I heard stayed pretty much the same with the ecto raise) but also the monetary one, as pple use money to buy gems and an ambrace requires a fixed number of gemsets (and the price of gems didn't raise with ectos).

...and armbraces actually dropped from ~48e to as low as even 39e.

Uhm, I saw some armbraces for around 45-46e august when ectos were around 4.4k, now ectos are around 7k (at least saw some pple buy and sell at similar price today in kamadan), so armbraces should have dropped to around 30e (maybe there is another reason for the raise though, I confess I'm not much in trading).

Please note that gold itself is becoming less and less of a real currency and ectos simply replace it as a currency in player-player transactions. Plenty of high-end traders in game and here on guru don't accept gold at all, only ectos.
GW Gold is going the way of Diablo2 gold, although still far far away from it, and the reasons are simple - the gold caps of 100k/char 1000k/chest are very very low (a whole account can hold not really more than mere 1 stack of ectos worth of gold) and and even if you manage to store millions of gold, you can't easily spend it (100k trade cap) and there's nothing in the game that requires spending a large sum of gold (like a couple hundred plat), that can't be bought from other players if you pay in ectos. That's why prices of items usually traded in ectos only don't adjust or adjust very slowly to changing gold value of an ecto glob. Armbrace of Truth is an exception because it's made from Gems/Gemsets which are still traded in gold primarily. |

there is one way to solve all of this.
TRADE IN LOCKPICKS. Because the Lock Picks are a FIXED price of 1500 at the trader and 1250 from other players and 1200 from towns in faction the price of something will only varry by 50 gold per lockpick. So, if and armbrace was 44e when the cost was 4.4K/e then the price is 193,600g or 155 lockpicks. Because the ectos are now 15/100K or 6,666g each then the cost of the armbrace has increased by 33% from 194K to almost 300K. that is a substantial gain for those who have ectos and a major hit to those that were not buying all the ectos they could at 24/100K like I was doing. So if people were to pay in Lockpicks at the set price of 200K for the Armbrace then the number of keys needed would be a FIXED amount cause you can BUY them from the people that OWN towns. so you would need 160 lockpicks 1 year ago and the same 160 lockpicks now Once Shadow Form and Ray of Jug get nurfed I think that you might see ectos go for 10-12 for 100K |
